They are sometimes also known as acoustical engineers.
So what they do?

applications or public consultation on new developments, such

2: The investigation of the effects of sound vibrations of machines
and structures such as bridges, goods, aircraft, or household
3: The design and working with recording studio and broadcast
audio equipment
4: Design of medical devices such as ultrasound equipment to help
doctors diagnose and treat patients.
5: Assessments of noise in buildings to ensure that the methods
of sound insulation and building materials comply with regulations
