Pathology Technician Job Descriptions

As an anatomical pathology technician (APT),
or mortuary technician, you would support pathologists (specialist
doctors) during post-mortem examinations. These tests are
designed to identify the cause of death, and involve the
analysis and dissection of the deceased.
During an autopsy, its features include:
· Instruments of passage, such as scalpels to pathologists
• Take tissue samples
· Weight of organs, and are removed from a body
• Take samples for laboratory analysis
· Recording the results of a post-mortem examination.
At the end of the autopsy to help with rebuilding and cleansing
the body for storage or release of the undertakers for burial
or cremation. With experience, it can also help forensic
pathologists examining murder victims.
As post-mortem work, you would be responsible for the day
to day operation of funeral services, for example:
· Make the instruments are cleaned, sterilized and ready
for use
· To receive the bodies at the morgue in the short term
· Placement of the deceased in cold storage units
· Keep accurate records required by law
· Property tracking and samples of the deceased.
