| Arboriculture
workers (sometimes known as arborists), plant, cultivate and
maintain trees and shrubs, often in public areas like streets
and parks.
You could be:
· A climber or a tree surgeon - a skilled worker working at
heights up to 36 meters, pruning diseased trees or removing
branches that could be dangerous
· A pot - pesticides preparing the ground for tree planting,
planting of saplings, and the application of fertilizers and
· Staff of Earth - making sure the sites are safe for pedestrians,
cleaning up waste sites, and help the climbers, for example,
go to tools and chainsaws re-fueling.
Key Skills
· practical and mechanical skills
· physical fitness and a head for heights
· an interest in conservation and environmental issues
· the ability to work as part of a team
· good communication skills
· an understanding of health and safety issues.
