Astronomer
Job Descriptions
|
| As an astronomer, used a wide
range of scientific techniques to study the universe, its
origin and composition. You could specialize in one area such
as planetary science, solar astronomy, the origin and evolution
of stars or the formation of galaxies.
Astronomy can be divided into two main areas - the astronomical
observations and theoretical astronomy.
The astronomical observation
In this area, their work could include:
· The development of new instrumentation and maintenance of
existing equipment
• Using optical and radio telescopes or computers to satellites
and spacecraft to collect data
· Software development for interpreting the images obtained
from satellites
• Analyze the data and test theories.
Theoretical Astronomy
His work in this area involve:
· The creation of complex computer models to develop theories
about the physical processes occurring in space
• Analyze the results of past observations to develop new
predictions (hypotheses)
· Make observations and test theories
· The results of analysis in relation to what is known (this
could lead to advances in knowledge about events in the universe).
