Auto electrician fit a wide variety of electrical and electronic systems and accessories for motor vehicles, and detect and correct faults. The most modern vehicles rely heavily on electrical and electronic controls, and usually include a wide range of accessories for the systems 'satellite navigation' example.

Auto Electricians main tasks will be :

· Take the readings, using a laptop or handheld device connected to a motor drive electronic control (found in newer vehicles)
· Checking and testing of wiring and parts of older vehicles with portable instruments
· Use of the readings for errors
Investigate faults with diagrams and circuit manufacturers specifications manuals
· Repair or replacement of defective parts
· Re-testing the system to make sure everything works properly and safely (this may include road testing the vehicle)
· Filling a repair sheet detailing what has been done to the client.

It could work with a variety of electronic systems, including:
· Electronic ignition, alarms, immobilisers and tracking devices
· Power windows, mirrors and power seats, tow bar and air conditioning
· Customize LED or neon lighting kits, parking warning systems and reversing cameras.
