Bailiff Job Descriptions

Bailiffs, sometimes known as enforcement officers are responsible for enforcing court orders and taking money or property of people who are in debt.

There are two main types of bailiff:
· The county court or High Court bailiffs, who enforce judgments and deliver legal documents such as subpoenas
· Certificates and private bailiffs who work for companies known as civil enforcement agencies and collect debts such as rent or mortgage arrears for customers and local authorities, banks or utilities.
