Botanists
Job Descriptions

| Botanists (sometimes known
as plant biologists) study all forms of plant life, both in
the wild and in laboratories. They have many different job
roles, as their work is used in a variety of areas, including
conservation and environmental protection, agriculture, forestry,
horticulture, medicine, biotechnology and food science.
Work as a botanist might vary depending on the particular
job, but may include:
· Identification, classification, registration and control
of plant species
· Search new species
· To study the effects of pollution on plant life
· To study the effects of phenomena such as new buildings
in the plant life
· Identification and purification of chemicals produced by
plants for use in products such as medicines, foods, textiles,
solvents and building materials
· Present research results in journals, books and academic
conferences
· Training and supervision of junior staff and volunteers
· Teaching at universities.
