Chimney Sweep Job Descriptions

As a chimney sweep to clean the chimney stacks and flues for other coal, gas, oil and wood heating and cooking equipment. Their work will help reduce the risk of chimney fires and dangerous gas emissions.
Your day to day tasks may include:
· Perform an inspection of the chimney or before cleaning
· Protection of the surroundings so that the soot and debris does not escape the room
· Use of brushes in the extension rods to clean the chimney or · Remove soot and debris from the fireplace or appliance with an industrial vacuum
· Provide advice to clients about potential hazards and defects and when the fireplace or have to clean again
· Use of equipment such as smoke-generating machines and cameras CCTV to examine the state of the chimneys and investigate misconduct
· Advising clients on the operation and maintenance of chimneys, appliances and flues.
