| As a chiropodist or podiatrist,
who diagnosed and treated a wide range of problems in the
foot and leg. You could see a wide range of patients, athletes
with sports injuries to older people with arthritis or ulcers,
and pregnant women with problems caused by weight gain.
Your daily work may include: • Discuss treatment options with patients · Advise patients to foot care · Use of equipment such as scalpels, chemicals, and sometimes local anesthetics carry out treatment
• Provide long-term care for people at high risk of foot injury or disability, such as people with diabetes · Carry out minor surgery such as removing bunions (with advanced training) · Children detection of foot problems · The diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries · Educating the public about the importance of healthy feet - talking to individual patients and giving talks to groups · Provide information and advice to share with other health professionals such as orthopedic specialists, doctors and paramedics. |
