Engineering Technician Job Descriptions

| Civil engineering technicians
provide technical support to civil engineers and construction
engineering projects. The projects are divided into several
categories, including:
· Structural - bridges, dams, buildings, platforms and pipelines
· Transportation - roads, railways, tunnels and airports
· Environment - public networks of water supply, irrigation,
drainage, waste disposal and wastewater treatment
· Maritime - ports and sea defenses.
As a coach, its key functions would be in research and design,
planning and estimating, and purchase and monitoring. Its
main tasks within each of these include:
· Assist with initial field studies
· Provisions for laboratory analysis of soil samples, rocks
and materials
• Development of engineering design plans by hand or computer
aided design (CAD)
· Prepare estimates and instructions on the amount and type
of materials needed for a job, and labor costs
· Drawing the delivery of supplies, equipment and labor, with
dates of completion of each stage
· Negotiation with suppliers to get value for their money
in the purchase of resources
· Monitor progress, project inspection, report problems to
the administrators of the site and reporting to senior engineers.
