| As a dog trainer
would work with a dog specially trained and are responsible
for their care and control. You would work mainly for the
police, army and RAF, HM Revenue and Customs or private security
companies.
You and your dog work as a team, helping to prevent and detect
crime, find lost or missing or protect property, depending
on the service worked.
In the police dogs are used for:
· Follow up missing
· The crowd control, for example at football matches
· Search explosives or illegal drugs
· Pursue armed criminals
· Protection prisoners.
In dogs the Army and RAF are used in:
· Protection of military bases and hangars
· Location of landmines and other explosives
· Search victims.
HM Revenue and Customs use of dogs in ports, airports and
large stations:
· Detect drugs, snuff and cigarettes
· Detect foodstuffs such as meat and dairy products are being
introduced in the country illegally.
In the security industry dogs are used for:
· Patrolling and monitoring of property
· Protection construction
· Provide security at events.

· The ability to judge a situation accurately and react
instantly.
