| As an engineer involved in energy production,
working in the oil and gas, or energy production from renewable
or sustainable energy such as wind, solar or biofuels.
You could be involved in all stages of energy production in
a wide variety of roles, including:
· As a reservoir engineer, the calculation of the amount of
oil or gas produced and planning how to extract the maximum
amount
Investigate new ways of generating energy - for example, the
design of wind farms
Design of machines and developing ways to improve existing
processes
· Supervise the drilling operations on a platform at sea,
as a drilling engineer.
Your day to day tasks that depend on the type of project you
are involved, but may include:
· Using mathematical models and computer to calculate the
size and shape of a deposit
· Decide on the best locations for production wells to maximize
benefits
· Planning the program of a production platform offshore drilling
· Co-coordinating the work of a drilling rig
· Design and equipment selection
· Have the oil and gas extraction is in compliance with environmental
standards
• Analyze the performance of drilling and the factors affecting
the cost and efficiency
· Collaborate with other professionals such as geologists,
geophysicists and specialist contractors
• Conduct laboratory experiments and large-scale conversion
of industrial processes.
