Engineering Maintenance Fitter Job Descriptions

Engineering maintenance fitter’s service and repair machinery and equipment in a range of industries, including transport, manufacturing, aerospace and power. Maintenance fitters work in factories and workshops on mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic and computerised systems to guard against the failure of components, so avoiding production delays or shut-down.

Your job as a maintenance fitter fall into one of two areas - prevention (planned) and emergency maintenance.
Preventive maintenance work, duties involve:
· Make scheduled checks of machinery and parts, find and fix bugs and re-calibrate the instruments
· Work regular maintenance such as oiling, cleaning and identification of the parties in need of minor repairs
· Carry out the planned revision and replacement of parts that have reached the end of their working lives.
The emergency maintenance tasks including:
· Responding immediately to machine breakdowns
· Fixing flaws in the site or arrange for replacement of equipment to be installed.
