maintenance technicians or Maintenance engineering technicians
are responsible for making machinery and equipment running
smoothly in all areas of manufacturing, production and transportation.
This can range from fixing machinery and equipment in a production
line of canned food to the tests of aircraft parts and components
into a hangar.
As a technician, his work would fall into one of two areas
- prevention (planned) and emergency maintenance.
Its preventive maintenance tasks involve:
· Organisation of the service routine schedules
· The allocation of work to a team of installers
· Testing and calibration of instruments to ensure they are
accurate
· Spare mounting new ones when necessary, or as part of a
regular replacement cycle
• Conduct quality inspections in the workplace.
The emergency maintenance tasks involve:
· Responding immediately to equipment breakdowns
· Fixing flaws in the site or the organization of the replacement
machinery or equipment to be installed
· Maintain production managers of progress
· Organization of teams or individuals to ensure that 24 hour
cover is available.
