| 1. From a long-term perspective and affect
culture change to allow the incorporation of equality and diversity
throughout the Council. To achieve a minimum of level 2 of the
Equality Standard for local government with a long-term ambition
to achieve level 3. 2. Development of equality policies, action plans and strategies in collaboration with members, staff, community groups and special interest groups. 3. Develop and oversee the deployment of the Council's assessments of equality impact and support to service area managers with the process. 4. Provide expertise and advice on equal opportunities, legislation, codes of practice and standards in the Council's activities. 5. Work with all council service areas in the implementation of agreed policies of equalities initiatives, best practices and standards of equality in terms of consultation, communication, access to services and information, and employment. 6. Monitor performance and progress of the agreed objectives and standards, and advise the Council areas and services to improve equalities performance. 7. Work with service areas link with the local community / interest groups as appropriate, to ensure that service delivery meets your needs, such as ethnic minorities (especially travelers), groups of disability, etc. 8. Write and present reports on the Council's performance on equality and diversity fro making recommendations for improvement. 9. Working with Human Resources and Democratic Services to review, develop and organize an appropriate training program on equal opportunity and diversity for all staff and members to raise awareness and improve practice. 10. Ensure that equality and diversity are incorporated into the main activities and service plans in all service areas. 11. Establish links and relationships with external agencies that represent the views and interests of stakeholders. 12. To establish consultative mechanisms to ensure the Council is aware of the needs of specific community groups.
