Union Official Job Descriptions

The European Union (EU) officials work for one of nine European
institutions, including the European Commission (the largest
department, which is the EU civil service), the Court of Justice
and the European Parliament. Different departments have a
wide range of powers and functions, including:
· Proposing new legislation
· Have all members to obey the laws of the EU
· Management of agricultural and other policies
· Management of programs and budgets of the EU
· To represent the EU in international affairs.
The jobs are in Manager (AD) and grades assistant (AST). Depending
on the department, its functions in grades AD may include:
· Development of new laws
· Take part in the negotiations with third countries
· Put the new policies and programs in practice
· Meetings and Conferences Attending
· Preparing studies and reports
· Respond to questions from MEPs
· Management of staff, finance or equipment.
