| Facility managers ensure
that buildings and their services meet the needs of its occupants
and users as efficiently, safely and profitably as possible.
You could work as manager of the facility, whether public
or private sector, and could have another job as administrator
of the site or contracts. Their functions vary widely depending
on the job, but generally include:
· Make sure the building is ready to make the best use of
space
· Management of reforms, renovations and office moves
· Manage general upkeep and maintenance
· Make sure that buildings meet the health and safety and
legal requirements
· Advice on energy efficiency
· Facilities management, such as cleaning, waste disposal,
catering and parking
• Management of budgets and record keeping costs
· Negotiation with the best offers of outside contractors
and suppliers
· Security General
· Make sure that the computer system, such as computers, telephones,
copiers and faxes, the job effectively.
