| In recent years there has
been a huge expansion of digital technology both in business
and at home. This growth has been accompanied by a similar
increase in the computer-based crime. It is the job of a forensic
computer analyst to investigate this crime and gather evidence
to help build a case against suspects or criminal networks.
As a computer forensic analyst, who may be involved in a wide
range of research, such as:
Hacking fraud, online fraud
· Political espionage, industrial and commercial ·
Communications terrorist
· Possession of illegal pornography
· Theft of confidential business information by employees.
On a typical job, one of his first tasks would be to ensure
the computer system or hardware, so it could not be altered.
Then using various forensic methods and specialized software
for:
· Find, retrieve and copy data from disks that have been hidden,
encrypted or damaged
· Revelations (unlock) digital images that have been altered
to conceal the identity of a place or person
· Analyze logs to track mobile devices to a particular place
(or to rule them out)
· Follow the electronic data paths to discover the links between
individuals or groups
· Document carefully every stage of their research
· To present the technical results of the administrators,
organizations and law enforcement customers
To act as technical or expert witness in court cases.
