| French polishers use traditional
hand skills to prepare and treat wood to give a smooth finish
and improve its appearance. They may work on new furniture,
antique furniture restoration work on the installed items such
as stairs, panels and doors. As a French polisher would work: · Decide on the type and color of any stain to be used · The mixing and application of the stain · Finishes with French polish (shellac dissolved in methylated spirits) · Application of several coats of varnish French until the desired finish. · Application of finishes such as lacquers, paints, varnishes, oils and waxes, which can be applied more quickly, usually by spraying.
