| Earth sciences, or geologists,
are involved in the scientific study of the structure, evolution
and dynamics of the Earth and its natural resources. They
investigate the internal and external processes that have
shaped the Earth throughout its history of 4600 million.
You could use a wide range of research methods in their work,
including drilling, seismic surveys, satellite imagery and
aerial electromagnetic measurement. You could use their knowledge
and experience in several ways, including:
Evaluate the safety and impact of the creation of a dam or
a tunnel in a civil engineering project
· Location of an appropriate landfill or storage site for
nuclear waste
· Search energy and mineral resources like gas and oil
• Design programs to explore new water supplies
To study the volcanic and seismic activity to develop early
warning systems for communities living near active zones.

· A good level of general fitness and normal colour

· The ability to work independently and as part of
