Engraver Job Descriptions

| Engravers decorate glass
by using hand tools or machinery to cut designs or inscriptions
on the surface. It can produce original designs or copy existing
ones. They work in a variety of items such as cups, bowls,
vases, mirrors and glass panels.
As a glass engraver, you should use tools ranging from simple
hand tool diamond tipped machines. Also use a variety of methods
including:
· Self-etching - which marks
the diamond crystal with a hand or point of tungsten carbide
· Punta recorded - complete design construction of points,
the definition of light and shadow areas
· Exercise etching - using a cutter that rotates in the handpiece
of an electric drill
· Copper wheel engraving - the use of wheel driven machine
to shape the court, and a mixture of oil and dust to make
the cut
· Arena etching or sandblasting - the use of grain to erode
glass areas have been covered
· Acid etching - the application of hydrofluoric acid to decorate
areas
· Techniques hot glass - recorded combined with glass-blowing
skills to create different effects.
