| Housing Officers supervise
the day to day maintenance and management of rented properties
belonging to local authorities or housing associations.
As a housing officer must:
· Allocation of rental housing
· Monitor the exchange of goods
· Carry out regular inspections
to ensure that all properties are in good condition
Evaluate the needs of people seeking housing
· Treat issues such as antisocial behavior, squatters and
broken lease agreements
· Refer tenants to appropriate sources of social welfare benefits
and advice
Establish rents and dealing with payments and arrears
· Organizing for legal action to be taken when other forms
of rent recovery have failed
· Process and reporting statistical information
· Encourage and support tenants groups and attend meetings
as representative of the Council.
