Carer Personal Statement
|
At a young age I was responsible caring
for my disabled younger brother, who had a speech impediment as
well as unable to use limbs to move. He needed clockwork care, where
I had to get him up from bed and bath him. Make sure his teethes
are clean and also clean him afterwards when he has finished in
the toilet. I also made sure he had has his breakfast.
One day my brother succumbed to his illness and he was no more.
I was heartbroken and went into depression but my aunt told not
be disheartened because I did everything in power to make his stay
on earth as comfortable as possible. She also advised me to work
with people like my brother, which might lessen the pain. I took
this advice on board and took up an apprenticeship scheme as carer
in an old people’s home and eventually was offered the job on permanent
bases.
I provided care according to the client’s specific diagnosis and
needs. My duties included communicating effectively with clients,
the multi disciplinary team and Keeping accurate, factual written
accounts of my time with the client following the Nursing Guidelines.
I was involved in washing /bathing, with the use of bath aids, and
in assisting the client to shave. I assisted the clients to dress
and undress. I was responsible administering medicine to the clients.
I worked very well with everyone that I came into contact and enjoyed
the company of elderly clients and listening to them when they spoke
of their personal experiences.
From the experience and skills that I have highlighted demonstrates
that I will be your best candidate for the role of senior carer
at your nursing home.
