Why Write a Letter |
| Writing
a good letter is as important as having
a well-written CV. Both
of these documents can be your passport
to an interview for your next job or your
very first job. It is no use having a wonderful
CV if your letter does not back up the information
in it. Consider your letter to be the icing
on the cake and wise versa…without
a good CV, there is NO point
having a Good Cover letter.
Your letter is the first impression an employer is going to have of you and you have to make it count. As with your CV your letter has many uses and is used to:- 1. Accompany a CV or Application form 2. It can be used to emphasise some of the key aspects of your CV and Application form 3. You should try to keep it short, no longer than one side of A4 (at times it can become necessary to go over this) 4. It should contain the persons name and job title 5. Needs to have a subject re: Employment Opportunities 6. It should indicate how you are suited to work for that company You have to make the selectors job as easy as possible they may receive over 200 replies to job advertisements and probably more than that a week of speculative approaches. Writing
a good letter takes time and thought if you are going to
make an impact and make people interested in reading your
CV. |
